As part of the Industry Adjunct Speaker Series, 29 UOW Malaysia KDU Penang students embarked on an insightful exploration of career possibilities on 15 June 2026 at Room 405, Batu Kawan campus, with one big question in mind: What does the future hold for me?

Guiding them through this journey was Ms Vimala Shanmugam, Marketing Executive at GTI Media, a leading career and education media company. With warmth and candour, she opened up the world of two exciting career pathways — employment and entrepreneurship — and challenged students to think beyond simply landing their first job.

The session was far from a lecture. Through vivid real‑life success stories, Ms Vimala painted a picture of business leaders who had carved their own paths, showing that resilience, adaptability, perseverance, and continuous learning are the true engines of long‑term success. Students were encouraged to reflect on their personal strengths, appetite for risk, and the lifestyle they envision, gaining a balanced understanding that there is no “one‑size‑fits‑all” career journey.

One of the most powerful takeaways was the reminder that career growth is not a race. Whether choosing employment or entrepreneurship, success comes from continuously building skills, expanding networks, embracing opportunities, and staying open to change.
