For UOW Malaysia students, August 2025 wasn’t just about classes—it was about stepping straight into the industry. From career talks to exclusive hotel tours, students got a front-row seat to what it really takes to succeed in hospitality and culinary arts.
The journey kicked off on 8 August at UOW Malaysia’s Glenmarie Campus, where 30 students had the chance to meet the team behind Kimpton Naluria Hotel, the first-ever Kimpton brand property in Malaysia, set to open in TRX City Centre Kuala Lumpur in Q4 2025. More than just an introduction to the brand, the session spotlighted a unique opportunity: students are invited to join the pre-opening and opening internship team, gaining insider experience from Day 1 and potentially continuing as part of the hotel’s team after their internship ends.
Then, on 14 August, 20 students swapped the classroom for a behind-the-scenes tour of EQ Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. The visit began with an introductory briefing on the hotel’s brand values, service philosophy, and operations, giving students valuable context before exploring the property. The guided tour covered key departments including the Front Office, guest rooms, the Equator Club Lounge, and the Housekeeping, Laundry, and Uniform Departments. The experience wrapped up with a Q&A session, where students engaged with hotel representatives on career paths and industry insights.
These experiences weren’t just visits—they were sneak peeks into future careers, giving students valuable exposure to the industry they’re about to enter.
