On 16 July 2026, students from the Bachelor of Computer Science (Honours), Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours), Diploma in Information Technology, and Diploma in Professional Chef Training programs attended a session at UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College.
Students gained valuable insights into the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in IT (Information Technology) and OT (Operational Technology) environments, particularly the importance of governance, cybersecurity, and responsible implementation. The session highlighted how innovation must be balanced with security, risk management, and best practices to ensure sustainable adoption of AI in technology‑driven industries.
We were delighted to welcome Mr Michael Saw, APAC CSO of Siemens Energy — a global energy technology company driving sustainable solutions across power generation, transmission, and industrial applications — as our Industry Adjunct Speaker for this insightful sharing on “AI in IT and OT Environments: Governance, Cybersecurity, and Best Practices.”
Through industry insights and practical perspectives, students developed a deeper understanding of both the opportunities and challenges associated with adopting AI in complex environments. They explored how AI can enhance efficiency and innovation while recognising the critical need for robust governance frameworks and cybersecurity safeguards.
