The spirit of Australia lit up the Batu Kawan Campus as UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College (UOWMKDU Penang) marked Australia Day 2026 with a lively, colour-packed celebration that drew crowds from morning till dusk. Held on 26 January, the event transformed the campus into a buzzing hub of culture, connection and unmistakable Aussie charm.

From the sizzle of the ever-popular Australia BBQ to the laughter spilling out from games, trivia sessions and face-painting corners, the celebration offered something for everyone. Students and staff mingled freely, snapping photos with cheerful mascots and soaking up the festive atmosphere that filled the space throughout the day.

The official opening set a proud and celebratory tone, beginning with the national anthems of Malaysia and Australia. Professor Dr Chong Beng Keok (Vice-Chancellor, UOWMKDU Penang) delivered the opening speech, followed by an opening gimmick. A live performance by the STAR Club added energy to the proceedings, setting the rhythm for a full day of activities and engagement.
