On 19 April 2025, Desa Mentari in Petaling Jaya was filled with energy and purpose as Karnival Jom Sihat 2025 welcomed 119 participants for a vibrant day dedicated to health and well-being. Organised by passionate students and lecturers from UOW Malaysia’s School of Allied Healthcare and Nursing, the event served as a meaningful outreach initiative aimed at promoting health awareness and preventive care among the local community.

The carnival received strong support from community leaders, including YB Lee Chean Chung, Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya; YB Tuan Dr Mohammad Fahmi bin Ngah, State Assemblyman for Petaling Jaya; Encik Farhan Shah bin Ridzuan, Zone 24 Municipal Councillor (Ahli Majlis Zon 24); Encik Ganapathy a/l Periyasamy, Chairperson of the Neighbourhood Watch Committee, Block 2 KKI Desa Mentari (Pengerusi KRT Blok 2); and Professor Dr Hon Wei Min, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), UOW Malaysia.

The day featured an engaging mix of education, fitness, and fun. Free health screenings—including blood pressure, glucose, BMI, and vision checks—were offered to all. A lively Zumba session led by physiotherapy students encouraged physical activity, while the Children’s Corner entertained and educated young attendees on dental hygiene.

At the Basic Life Support (BLS) booth, participants learned hands-on CPR and first aid techniques. A breast examination station raised awareness on early detection, and a dengue prevention talk highlighted the importance of collective action in public health.

The event concluded on a high note with a cheerful lucky draw and many inspired faces—marking Karnival Jom Sihat 2025 as a successful step towards a healthier, more informed community.
