The first quarter of 2025 was marked by a trio of inspiring student-led initiatives at UOW Malaysia, each highlighting a unique pillar of university life: leadership, cultural appreciation, and mental well-being.
The journey began with Camp Unite: One Vision, One Mission, a two-day leadership and bonding retreat hosted by the Student & Alumni Centre (SAC) on 15–16 February 2025 at Villa Permai, Sungai Besar. Bringing together 40 student leaders from various clubs and societies, the retreat focused on building stronger leadership, fostering collaboration, and promoting personal growth. Highlights included team challenges, cross-club bonding activities, and a memorable Campfire Night with performances and heartfelt sharing by the university’s counselling team. The retreat strengthened unity and inspired student leaders to lead with vision, empathy, and purpose.
Next came Tamil Vizha (Tamil Heritage Celebration) on 5 March 2025, a colourful cultural celebration hosted by the Indian Cultural Society at the Glenmarie Campus. Dedicated to the rich heritage of the Pongal (Harvest) festival, the event featured traditional games like uriyadi (pot-breaking game), sugar cane breaking, and Pongal cooking demonstrations. Students and staff alike immersed themselves in Tamil traditions, gaining deeper appreciation for cultural diversity and unity within the campus community.
Closing the month on a reflective note was Mental Mosaic: Expressing Through Clay and Letters, held on 20 March 2025 by UniBuddy. This creative mental health initiative encouraged students to explore emotional expression through clay sculpting and letter writing. These therapeutic activities provided a safe and meaningful outlet for introspection and healing, reinforcing the importance of mental well-being and self-awareness.
Together, these three events reflected UOW Malaysia’s vibrant campus spirit—one that values strong leadership, cultural inclusivity, and emotional resilience. They served as powerful reminders that a thriving university community is built not just on academic achievement, but on empathy, connection, and shared purpose.
