By UOW Malaysia

Sizzling competition met spectacular talent at the Melaka Culinary Challenge 2025, held at Freeport A’Famosa Outlet, Melaka from 19 to 21 June 2025. With an estimated 300+ participants, the event brought together some of the country’s finest emerging culinary talents. Representing UOW Malaysia, Chef Alex Chia Sheng Da and student Liew Yok En cooked their way to victory with flair and finesse.

Liew Yok En, a Bachelor of Culinary Management student, stood out on Day 1 with her bold poultry creation—clinching a Bronze Medal. On Day 3, she returned with a fiery take on the traditional Curry Fish Head, earning yet another Bronze, impressing judges with her mastery of local flavours.

Meanwhile, Chef Alex Chia demonstrated sophistication and balance in the Fish and Seafood category. His dish, praised for both innovation and taste, earned a Silver Medal, reflecting his seasoned expertise and refined technique.

“This is the kind of platform that reminds us why we do what we do,” said Chef Alex. “We cook to connect, to inspire, and to evolve.”

With medals in hand and pride in their hearts, these culinary talents have brought home not just awards, but valuable experience that continues to shape UOW Malaysia’s culinary journey.
