In a thrilling celebration of culinary brilliance, Chef Aravinthan Shanmugam, Lecturer at the School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts, UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College, and our distinguished alumnus Chef Arvind Jeyaratnam made a remarkable impression at the Akshaya Chef Award 2025.
Chef Aravinthan was honoured with the Most Outstanding Chef Award 2025 (16 – 20 years’ experience category) and our alumnus Chef Arvind Jeyaratnam was awarded with the Young Rising Star Award 2025.
The Akshaya Chef Awards, organised by the Malaysian Indian Chef Association (MICA), recognises Malaysian-born Indian chefs who have demonstrated outstanding service and dedication to the food and hospitality industry. Held every two years, this event celebrates the creativity, skill, and innovation of chefs who elevate the culinary scene in Malaysia and beyond.
These accolades reflect the talent and determination that UOW Malaysia fosters, showcasing the success of both seasoned professionals and rising stars in the culinary world.
