The University of Wollongong Malaysia proudly celebrates Wong Sze Anne, recipient of the prestigious Institution of Engineers Malaysia (IEM) Gold Medal Award, presented at the 67th IEM Annual Dinner and Awards Night on 18 April 2026 at Sunway Resort Hotel. The event, attended by over 1,730 attendees, comprising IEM members, representatives of international organisations, professional bodies, government agencies, and regional engineering institutions, was graced by YB Datuk Chang Lih Kan, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI) as Guest of Honour.

Graduating with First Class Honours in Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Sze Anne has consistently demonstrated academic excellence. Her Final Year Project on an IoT‑based seismic sensor data acquisition platform, supervised by Mr Chua Huang Shen (Senior Lecturer, School of Engineering), earned international recognition with a Gold Medal at the 10th International Invention Innovation Competition (ICAN) 2025 in Canada. She currently serves as a software engineer at Western Digital. Her achievement is a source of immense pride for the University community, reflecting the dedication and talent of our graduates.
