The School of Engineering at UOW Malaysia delivered an impressive performance at the EVA Blueprint to Breakthrough Competition 2026, organised by and held at Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) on 18 April 2026. This national-level competition attracted participation from Institutions of Higher Learning (IPTA and IPTS) across Malaysia, with 35 teams competing in the preliminary stage. Following a rigorous evaluation process, 22 teams were shortlisted for the final round.
UOW Malaysia was represented by 19 Engineering students and staff from the Glenmarie Campus, organised into 4 teams, all of which progressed to the finals. This achievement reflects the strong culture of innovation, quality, and competitiveness within the School of Engineering, demonstrating its ability to perform strongly when benchmarked against peers nationwide.
UOW Malaysia achieved strong results at the competition, with all teams delivering commendable achievements:

9th Place AI-Driven Furniture Defect Detection Team members: Jeffrey Chua Keong Quan, Yogitha Dantuluri, Nathan Koek De Yuan, Lau Kim Boon, Ts. Dr. Goh Thing Thing
10th Place One for All Bin (OFAB) Team members: Choy Kah Chun, Kelvin Lai Hong Fai, William Tan Chong Hee, Gee Chia Chen
These accomplishments show just how creative and skilled the students at UOW Malaysia are when it comes to finding innovative solutions to real-world problems. By taking part in the competition, they got to learn by doing, work together as a team, and develop their problem-solving skills – all of which are really valuable experiences.
