By UOW Malaysia

On 2 April 2026, 48 students from the School of Business, Department of Engineering and Department of Computing at UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College joined an inspiring Industry Adjunct Speaker Series titled “Industry Expectations for Fresh Graduates in Digital Skills”. The session, led by Mr William Ng from Dell Technologies, gave students a front-row view of the digital skills employers now considers essential in accounting, finance, and business.

Students were introduced to Dell Technologies’ global presence and values, but the highlight was Mr Ng’s personal journey through the Finance Development Program. His stories resonated with many, showing how adaptability, continuous learning and diverse experiences can shape a successful career.

The session reminded students that digital competency is no longer an added advantage but a requirement. They explored three critical areas that will define their future roles:

  • Analytics and digital thinking
  • Artificial Intelligence proficiency
  • Automation and technology-driven processes

For many attendees, the biggest takeaway was the importance of cultivating a lifelong learning mindset. Students left motivated to upskill, stay agile and embrace emerging technologies to remain competitive in a digital-first world.

This event reinforced UOW Malaysia’s commitment to preparing students not just with knowledge, but with the confidence and adaptability needed to thrive in the evolving workforce.
