Nurturing Students in Building Their Brand in the Digital Age

By UOW Malaysia

At UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College, we remain committed to equipping our students with industry‑relevant knowledge and future‑ready skills. Recently, we had the privilege of hosting Mr Alen Yeoh Chee Wei, Director of Big Academy Sdn Bhd, social media marketing consultant, entrepreneur, and industry leader, for an engaging session on “IP Branding in the Digital Age.”

On 9 July 2026, 29 students from programs including Bachelor of Accountancy (Hons), Bachelor of Arts (Hons) Business Management, Diploma in Business, Diploma in Information Technology, Diploma in Interior Design, and Diploma in Mass Communication participated in the session, eager to deepen their understanding of digital branding.

In today’s highly connected world, personal and business branding extends far beyond logos and marketing campaigns. Through real‑world case studies and practical examples, students gained valuable insights into how a strong personal brand (IP) can build trust, enhance visibility, and create meaningful connections with audiences.

The session explored:

  • Establishing a unique identity
  • Building credibility through consistent content
  • Leveraging social media effectively
  • Content marketing strategies for value creation
  • The growing role of AI tools

What made the session especially impactful was the practical perspective drawn from industry experience. Students were exposed to current digital marketing practices, AI‑powered content creation techniques, and the mindset required to remain relevant in an increasingly competitive digital landscape.

Beyond technical knowledge, the sharing encouraged students to reflect on their own personal brands, professional presence, and the importance of continuous learning in an era shaped by digital transformation.
