UOW Malaysia School of Hospitality, Tourism & Culinary Arts (SHTCA) recently had an extraordinary opportunity to participate in the prestigious Brunei Royal Wedding of Prince Mateen and Dayang Anisha. A delegation comprising 17 students and 2 dedicated lecturers embarked on a remarkable journey to serve at the guest houses and the royal wedding ceremony held at the palace from January 7 to January 19, 2024.

This unique engagement not only provided a hands-on learning experience for the students but also showcased the exceptional training and expertise fostered by SHTCA. The students had the privilege of contributing to the seamless execution of the event, gaining invaluable practical insights into the intricate world of hospitality and event management. Students also gained experience in serving a royal party with numerous customs and protocols in the royal palace.

On January 18, after working tirelessly at the royal event, the group had the honour of dining at The Nas, a restaurant owned by a proud SHTCA alumnus. The evening not only served as a delightful reunion for the alumni but also highlighted the success stories emerging from the school. The Nas, with its alumni connection, provided a setting that epitomized the synergy between education and industry, reinforcing the bonds within the SHTCA community.

The participation in the Brunei Royal Wedding underscored SHTCA’s dedication in providing exceptional learning experience for its students. The journey not only showcased the skills and professionalism of the SHTCA community but also opened avenues for future collaborations, demonstrating the school’s commitment to advancing the field of hospitality, tourism, and culinary arts.
