The School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (SHTCA), UOW Malaysia, was proud to have its students represent the university at the MONIN Cup 2026 Student Competition held on 24 May 2026 at Sunway University, showcasing their talents alongside contestants from across Malaysia.
Representing UOW Malaysia in the Cocktail and Mocktail categories were: Low Qi Man (Bachelor in Culinary Management), Carmen Tai (Diploma in Culinary Management), and Jhullian Nichoe (Certificate in Hotel Operations).
We are absolutely thrilled to celebrate a podium achievement by Carmen Tai, who clinched the 2nd Runner-Up spot in the Mocktail Category.
Reflecting on her experience, Carmen shared that preparing for the competition gave her the opportunity to research, experiment with different drink concepts, and refine her ideas into a final creation she was proud of. She credited her lecturers, Chef Mohd Maharis bin Mamat (Senior Lecturer, SHTCA) and Chef Saiful Irwan bin Paduli (Assistant Lecturer, SHTCA), for their invaluable guidance and constructive feedback throughout the process, which helped her develop new techniques and enhance her skills. She also described the competition as an inspiring learning experience, where interacting with fellow competitors and industry professionals broadened her perspective on the beverage industry and motivated her to continue challenging herself and striving for excellence.
Congratulations once again to all our contestants for showcasing their creativity, technical skills, confidence, and passion for beverage innovation throughout the competition.
