A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) has been formalised between the School of Communication and Languages, UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College, and the School of Languages, Literacies & Translation, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). The primary goal of this collaboration is to deliver the Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) English for Professionals offshore program—an initiative that reflects both institutions’ shared commitment to academic excellence, accessibility, and global education. The first intake for this program will be in October 2025.
The signing ceremony, held at UOW Malaysia’s Batu Kawan Campus, began with speeches from Ms Jennifer Ng, UOWM CEO/UOWGE CEO Asia, and Professor Dato’ Dr Narimah Samat, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic and International, of Universiti Sains Malaysia. Ms Jennifer expressed her optimism for the partnership, stating, “We are the trailblazers shaping the future of education in this country and creating opportunities that will transform lives.” The ceremony was followed by an engaging performance by students from the School of Communication and Languages.
The signing of the MOA was carried out by UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dr Chong Beng Keok, and Professor Dato’ Dr Narimah Samat, and witnessed by Ms Heran Niruba, Academic Department Head, School of Communication & Languages, and Professor Dr Hazri Jamil, Dean of School of Languages, Literacies and Translation of USM.
The program will be conducted at UOW Malaysia’s Batu Kawan campus, with USM conferring the degree upon completion. Students enrolled in this program will benefit from exclusive access to facilities at both USM and UOW Malaysia. This unique arrangement enhances their academic exposure, networking opportunities, and access to top-tier resources, creating a well-rounded educational experience.
