The University of Wollongong Malaysia is proud to announce that Tiun Hiew Gigg, a Bachelor of Accounting student from the School of Business, has secured the first runner-up position in the inaugural YYC taxPOD Challenge 2024. The event showcased the top accounting talents from across Malaysia.

Organised by YYC Advisors, a leading professional services firm in Malaysia, offering a comprehensive range of services that include accounting, taxation, audit, business advisory, and corporate advisory services to businesses, the YYC taxPOD Challenge 2024, held on 14 September 2024, provided a platform for aspiring tax professionals to demonstrate their expertise and creativity. Ten finalists from various universities, including UOW Malaysia, competed in a challenging tax problem-solving exercise. Participants were evaluated on their technical knowledge, analytical skills, presentation abilities, and strategic thinking.

As the first of its kind, the YYC taxPOD Challenge set a high standard for future competitions, establishing itself as a vital platform for recognising and developing young talents in the field of taxation in Malaysia.
