On 25 February 2026, learning came alive beyond the lecture hall when 37 Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering with Honours students from UOW Malaysia embarked on an industrial visit to HP Malaysia Manufacturing (HPMM), accompanied by 3 staff members — Dr Yon Hao Ren (Department of Engineering – Lecturer/Program Leader), Dr Tan Mei Hoon (Department of Engineering – Senior Lecturer) & Anna Lim Siew Fang (Career & Placement Centre – Industry Engagement & Career Services Senior Manager).
The visit offered students a valuable opportunity to experience real-world manufacturing operations at one of the world’s leading technology companies. From touring the production floor to exploring the Advanced Material & Test Centre and training facilities, students gained first-hand insights into industry practices, innovation and operational excellence.
They were also introduced to HPMM’s product and service portfolio, including personal systems, printers and 3D printing solutions. A highlight of the visit was learning about the SPARK Bootcamp initiative, which provides pathways for internships and potential full-time employment.
The visit strengthened industry–academia collaboration while helping students connect classroom learning with practical applications — an inspiring and eye-opening experience for aspiring engineers.
