Professor Dr Yeap Gik Hong (Head of School/ Head of Batu Kawan Campus Operations), Professor Dr J. Joshua Thomas (Professor, Department of Computing), and Associate Professor Dr Lee Gin Chong (Program Leader, Department of Engineering) were among six expert speakers selected for the event, which was organised by the IEM Electronic Engineering Technical Division (eETD) with support from IEM’s Material Engineering Technical Division (MaTD), Technological Association Malaysia (TAM), IEEE, and API Solutions Sdn Bhd. The seminar attracted turnout of 70 participants comprising IEM members and industry professionals.

Each of our speakers brought cutting-edge insights to the table:

Professor Dr Yeap delivered “Unveiling Lean Manufacturing: The Art of Streamlining Success,” providing deep insights into Lean Manufacturing principles, its historical roots in the Toyota Production System, and practical tools for continuous improvement and waste elimination in industry practices.

Professor Dr Joshua explored the frontier of artificial intelligence in “Harnessing Generative AI: A New Frontier for Electronic Engineers,” highlighting how emerging AI technologies like GANs, VAEs, and Diffusion Models are revolutionizing design, testing, and innovation in electronic engineering.

Associate Professor Dr Lee presented “Enhancing Automation with IoT: Bridging Technology and Intelligence,” exploring the integration of Digital Twining, Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in automation, real-world applications such as predictive maintenance and process optimisation, and the future potential of smart, interconnected systems.
