On 5 January 2026, the University of Wollongong Malaysia (UOW Malaysia), Glenmarie Campus, hosted 20 final-year students from Universitas Brawijaya, Indonesia, specialising in management, economics, and finance, accompanied by 2 university representatives. Organised by the School of Business, the visit offered the students a hands-on glimpse into campus life and an opportunity to tap into UOW Malaysia’s academic expertise.
The highlight of the day was a lively two-hour seminar led by Ms Norfarahin Zainal Abidin, Programme Leader, School of Business, and Dr Jasmine Phan Ah Kiaw, Head of Department, Postgraduate and Research Centre. Dr Jasmine kicked off the session with a warm welcome, setting the stage for an interactive and thought-provoking experience.
Ms Norfarahin’s session, “Money Moves: From Classroom to Boardroom”, brought financial theory to life, exploring how decisions are made in real-world business settings—balancing risk, return, and strategy. Students actively participated in individual and group activities, presenting strategies based on a real-world case study, making learning both practical and highly engaging.
In the second half, Dr Jasmine guided students through the ethical use of AI in academic studies, highlighting responsible prompting, acceptable practices, and the role of AI tools in supporting learning. Students left with fresh perspectives on navigating academic work responsibly in a digital era.
The seminar was followed by a networking lunch and a campus tour, giving students firsthand experience of UOW Malaysia’s students firsthand experience of the university’s facilities and academic environment. The visit was an enriching experience, leaving the students with practical skills, new knowledge, and valuable insights to support their studies and future careers.
