UOW Malaysia Partners Media Giants on Scholarships

By UOW Malaysia

Each year, prominent Malaysian institutions collaborate with the country’s two largest English and Chinese newspapers, The Star and Sin Chew Daily, in a strategic initiative to provide Education Fund Scholarships, sponsored by partner institutions, to deserving students. In the 2024 scholarship cycle, 29 partner institutions, including UOW Malaysia, contributed to the Star Education Fund and the Sin Chew Daily Education Fund.

These scholarships, available on the newspapers’ respective websites, allow interested and eligible students to apply directly. Applications are reviewed, and shortlisted candidates undergo an interview process conducted by a panel consisting of the newspapers’ selection committee and representatives from the partnering institutions.

On 26 February 2025, 81 deserving students were awarded scholarships valued at RM5.78 million from the Star Education Fund, while 42 students received scholarships worth RM2.4 million from the Sin Chew Daily Education Fund on 28 February 2025.

UOW Malaysia students who were proudly awarded the scholarships are:
