UOW Malaysia School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (SHTCA) proudly contributed its culinary expertise to The Datai Langkawi for their Michelin Chef Series Dinner on December 13 to December 16, 2024. Featuring the renowned Michel and Sebastien Bras from the acclaimed 3-star Le Suquet Restaurant in Laguiole, France, this collaboration aimed to elevate The Datai Langkawi’s 30th anniversary event to success.
At the request of The Datai Langkawi, Chef Khairul Muhamad, supported by Chef CK Tan and assisted by Joshua Lee, graduating student of Bachelor of Culinary Management (Hons), played pivotal roles in ensuring the success of the event.
Led by Chef Khairul Muhamad, a team of two lecturers and one student from SHTCA received the honour of participating in this prestigious event. This collaboration marked the second consecutive year that UOW Malaysia has joined hands with The Datai Langkawi, following a successful Chef Series Dinner with Michelin Star UK Chef Tom Aikens in 2022.
The UOW Malaysia team, privileged to work alongside legendary chefs Michel and Sebastien Bras, took charge of overseeing the menu’s preparation and the execution of the dinner. This unique opportunity allowed the team to collaborate with monumental figures in the fine dining world and showcase UOW Malaysia’s culinary prowess at an event attended by some of Asia’s and Malaysia’s most prominent figures.
The continued trust placed by The Datai Langkawi in UOW Malaysia’s culinary expertise stands as a testament to the institution’s commitment to providing industry-relevant education. It reinforces UOW Malaysia’s position not only as an educational provider but also as a facilitator of culinary excellence aligned with global standards.
