A group of 31 enthusiastic Bachelor of Hospitality Management (Hons) and Bachelor of Culinary Management (Hons) students from UOW Malaysia embarked on an educational 11-day adventure to IMI International Management Institute. The trip, primarily designed to complete the IMI module “Sustainable Trends in Tourism and Hospitality”, a requirement of the Dual Award program, also provided students with experiences that extended well beyond the classroom.

Students fully immersed themselves in Swiss culture by staying on the IMI campus and experiencing life as local students. The trip went beyond academics, featuring visits to iconic Swiss destinations such as the Ballenberg Open Air Museum, the majestic Mt. Pilatus, the renowned Lindt Chocolate World, and historic cities like Zurich and Bern, allowing for a deep exploration of Switzerland’s rich cultural heritage. The itinerary also included a visit to Gruyères, famous for its cheese and castles.

This educational excursion provided the students the opportunity to interact with their peers, build lasting friendships, and develop a global perspective. By stepping outside the traditional classroom environment, students gain invaluable insights into the hospitality industry and its sustainable practices.
