UOW Malaysia’s students exploring Galeri Rumah Lat.

Educational learning experience to Rumah Kutai.

Marveled through the architecture and history of Muzium Istana Diraja Perak.

In a collaborative initiative between UOW Malaysia Batu Kawan and UiTM Seri Iskandar, students were given exposure to Perak’s heritage and history through an educational tour in order to enhance their learning experience from August 1 to August 2, 2023.

The journey began by witnessing the final-year presentations by landscape architecture and interior design students at UiTM Seri Iskandar on August 1, 2023. This collaboration highlighted the synergy between our institutions and showcased the innovative projects by students.

Following the insightful presentations, a communal lunch set the stage for cultural exploration at Galeri Rumah Lat, a museum housing the works of the renowned Datuk Lat. Capturing moments at the replica of Kampung Boy’s House added a personalized touch to our collaborative cultural experience.

The collaborative venture continued on August 2, 2023, to Rumah Kutai where students were able to explore the history of traditional Malay houses and the resting place of Perak Sultan. It was then followed by a feast of traditional Perak dishes which provided a rich experience of local culture.

The highlight of the day was a drawing session led by a landscape architect lecturer from UiTM Seri Iskandar, showcasing the power of collaboration in merging creative expression with architectural understanding. Then, the journey concluded at Muzium Istana Diraja Perak where students marveled at its architecture and delved into the rich collaborative history it encapsulated.

As UOW Malaysia values holistic approach in learning, this collaborative initiative expanded the students’ knowledge of architecture and fostered a deeper appreciation for the heritage embedded in the sites they explored which was a significant learning experience for the students.
