Three students from UOW Malaysia were recognised for their talent at the Malaysia Public Relations Awards (MPRA) 2024. Danial Amirul Bin Shazlan from the School of Business claimed the Silver award, while Saain Ibrahim and Yap Min from the School of Communication & Creative Arts each earned Bronze in the highly competitive “Students Award in Communication: The Persuasive Pen Prize.”
Facing fierce competition from 17 students representing universities across Malaysia, this recognition highlights UOW Malaysia’s exceptional talent. The new award category, launched to mark the 25th anniversary of the Public Relations & Communications Association (PRCA) Malaysia, tested participants’ ability to craft compelling and impactful communication strategies.
Danial Amirul, the Silver award winner described the experience as transformative. He shared, “This journey sharpened my storytelling and strategic thinking skills, pushing me to create campaigns that resonate. Winning motivates me to continue pursuing excellence in the field.”
Bronze winners Saain Ibrahim and Yap Min also reflected on their experiences. Saain highlighted how the competition refined his writing and deepened his understanding of public relations’ role in combating misinformation. Yap Min emphasised the significance of authentic storytelling in fostering trust, calling the award a pivotal milestone in her journey to becoming a PR professional.
