Research Aims At UOW Malaysia, our research endeavors aim to push the boundaries of knowledge, foster innovation, and address global challenges. We strive to inspire students and academic staff to share their knowledge and serve in the academic field. The Research Centre at UOW Malaysia aims to promote the enjoyment of learning and publishing research. Research Directions Our research is directed towards several key areas including, but not limited to: Technology and Engineering: Advancing innovations in artificial intelligence, robotics, cybersecurity, and engineering to solve real-world problems and improve efficiency. Social Sciences and Humanities: Understanding human behavior, cultural dynamics, social policies, and education to enhance the quality of life and promote social justice. Business and Economics: Exploring economic development, business strategy, finance, and entrepreneurship to drive growth and innovation in the global economy. Hospitality, Tourism, and Culinary Arts: Enhancing sustainable tourism, hospitality management, culinary innovation, and tourism economics to improve industry practices and sustainability. Sustainability: Promoting environmental conservation, renewable energy, sustainable urban development, and circular economy practices to ensure a better future for all. Research Achievements at a Glance External Research Funding: Of more than RM5.5 million awarded by government, international and national organizations with notable projects on business, social sciences, hospitality and tourism, sustainability, advanced innovation and cutting-edge technology. Awards: UOW have garnered several prestigious awards. Highlights include the Virtual Innovation Competition 2024 Gold Medal for a construction waste segregation system, and multiple accolades at the Malaysian Technology Expo 2024 for eco-friendly solutions and drone technology. Industrial Collaboration and Partnership: UOW have established industrial collaborations with prominent companies like Sony Malaysia, The Sandbox, AirAsia, and EA/Codemasters. Also, we have formed strong partnerships with well-known national and international academic institutions and research centre such as Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, and Sustainable Building Research Center (SBRC), Australia. Publication: More than half of the articles published by UOW Malaysia academics were in Q1 and Q2 journals. We welcome any form of collaboration from other universities and industry partners.
