12,000 Unite for Diversity & Social Good

The Technicolour Multicultural Festival 2025, held on 13-14 June 2025, at UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College, celebrated Malaysia’s diverse cultures and fostered awareness about social poverty. The festival welcomed approximately 12,000 attendees, including students, UOW staff, school students, teachers, parents from various primary and secondary schools across Penang, and members of the public.

Beyond a cultural celebration, the event aimed to raise awareness about social poverty and the countless challenges faced by the underprivileged, encouraging a spirit of volunteerism among students to continue supporting social good in Penang. The festival was a collaborative effort with the Penang State Education Department (JPN) and featured various competitions designed to discover and nurture artistic talent at the state level, with the first-place winner earning the opportunity to represent the state at the national level.

The event was honoured by several distinguished guests, including YB Tuan Goh Choon Aik, State Assemblyman for Bukit Tambun; Tuan Mohamad Said Bin Ibrahim, Deputy Director of Education, Student Development Sector, Penang State Education Department; Tuan Azman Hj Ahmad, Head of State Deposit Management BSN Penang, representing the State Director of Bank Simpanan Nasional Penang; Tuan Lim Boon Seng, Director of LBS Music World; Mr. Chen Thean Hock, Chief Assistant Director, Student Talent Development Unit, Student Development Sector, Penang State Education Department; Mr. Saffi bin Abdul Hafiz, Assistant Director, Student Talent Development Unit, Student Development Sector, Penang State Education Department; Ms. Nadhilah Binti Suhaimi, Assistant Director of Education, Student Development Sector, Penang State Education Department, among others.

Highlights included an opening dance performance by primary school students showcasing traditional dances from various races of Malaysia, energetic and colourful performances by students from various schools lighting up the stage, and a lively and diverse crowd gathering to celebrate the festival, reflecting unity and shared joy across communities. The festival also featured locals taking part in the much-anticipated Hotdog Eating Competition and a lucky draw, culminating in group photos taken with all the winners and the squad behind the success of Technicolour Multicultural Festival 2025.
