We are delighted to extend our congratulations to Datuk Seri (Dr) Michael Yam Kong Choy SMW, DSNS, Chancellor of UOW Malaysia on being conferred as Fellow of the University of Wollongong, Australia.

Datuk Seri (Dr) Michael Yam Kong Choy is a visionary leader whose career spans over 40 years of remarkable contributions to business, education, and public service on a global scale. As the Chancellor of the University of Wollongong Malaysia since 2021, Datuk Seri Michael Yam has been instrumental in enhancing the university’s standing through strategic leadership, fostering international collaborations, and promoting a culture of academic excellence. His influence has been pivotal in positioning UOW Malaysia as a respected institution within the global academic landscape.

Datuk Seri Michael Yam’s extensive career includes serving as Managing Director and CEO of prominent, award-winning companies in the construction, real estate, and corporate sectors. His leadership set industry benchmarks not only in Malaysia but also in the UK, South Africa, and Australia. A committed professional, educator and community builder, Datuk Seri Michael Yam supports education and social initiatives through his active participation in various NGOs and professional bodies, reflecting his dedication to empowering communities and nurturing future leaders. Datuk Seri Michael Yam has been recognised with several distinguished awards and fellowships including the Darjah Seri Mahkota Wilayah conferred by His Majesty the King of Malaysia for his services to the nation.

The award was presented by Mr John M. Green, Chairman of the UOWGE Board of Directors, on behalf of the University of Wollongong, during the UOW Malaysia Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, 16 November 2024.
