Dazzling Deepavali Night was a heart-warming celebration of culture, diversity, and unity. The evening began with a warm welcome from Shathiys Veravijiyan, President of the Indian Cultural Society (ICS), who set the tone for the event. Shathiys highlighted the importance of celebrating Deepavali to embrace our differences and come together as one.

Next, Professor Dr Hon Wei Min took the stage, sharing her thoughts on how cultural festivals like Deepavali play a crucial role in building strong, inclusive communities. Her speech echoed the event’s theme of unity through diversity, a value that UOW Malaysia proudly upholds.

The evening reached its peak when YB Datuk Seri Dr M. Saravanan delivered an inspiring keynote address. He spoke passionately about the significance of preserving cultural heritage and the unity that Deepavali symbolises, not just for the Indian community but for all Malaysians.

The night was filled with captivating performances, from traditional Indian dances to contemporary fusion acts, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of Malaysia. One of the evening’s highlights was a special performance by local artist Sheezay, who brought a modern flair to the traditional event and mesmerised the audience.

The success of the event was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Student & Alumni Centre (SAC) and the Indian Cultural Society (ICS). Their hard work ensured that the night was not just about entertainment but also about creating a space where different cultures could come together and be celebrated.
