2nd runner up winners from Bachelor of Game Development (Honours)

UOW Malaysia’s flagship program, the Bachelor of Game Development (Honours), has once again proven that we are the gold standard of game development in Malaysia. In the recently concluded AirAsia RedGames Jam — now in its third iteration — Team Gelp, consisting of three UOW Malaysia alumni (Kenny Yeow Kai Jie, Chuan Wei Yin, and Sam Lee) together with their close friend, Shawna Lim Jie Yi, took home the grand prize: an all-expenses-paid trip to the 2025 Tokyo Game Show, by invitation from SEGA Japan.

Held at Bukit Jalil from 11 to 13 July 2025, this year’s competition saw 36 teams vying for the grand prize with the challenge of creating a playable game within a 48-hour time limit. The game jam tests creativity under pressure, with judging representatives from Airasia, SEGA Corporation, Albrite Studios, Larian Studios, CtrlD Studio, Passion Republic, and MDEC carefully evaluating the entries before narrowing them down to the Top 10.

Teams from UOW Malaysia secured five of the Top 10 spots, earning the opportunity to showcase their games at LevelUp KL 2025 later in October. Rising stars from the program also clinched the 2nd runner-up prize — students Yeaw Chen Jie, Chloe Ooi, Teong Cher Min, and Choo Chin Tian, together with their friend Cha Wan Xun — who will be putting their RM2,000 prize to good use.
