On 9 February 2026, a group of engineering students from UOW Malaysia stepped beyond the classroom and into the world of industrial power solutions during a visit to Gutor Electronics Asia Pacific Sdn. Bhd.
Led by Dr Goh Thing Thing and assisted by Seerla Kanagarajoo a/l Betharajoo, the delegation of 9 students and 4 staff members explored the operations of a company at the forefront of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems for critical industries.
From oil and gas facilities to data centres and public infrastructure, Gutor plays a crucial role in ensuring that essential systems remain powered without interruption. Through an engaging briefing and guided facility tour, participants gained first-hand insight into manufacturing processes, quality control standards, and the rigorous safety practices that underpin industrial operations.
More than just a site visit, the experience brought engineering theory to life. Students witnessed how technical knowledge, innovation, and teamwork converge in a fast-paced industrial environment.
The visit not only deepened their understanding of power electronics and energy systems but also sparked fresh inspiration for future careers in engineering and the energy sector.
