The UOW Malaysia Mobility Program, in collaboration with UOW College Hong Kong, offers a transformative cross-cultural experience from June 4th to June 10th, 2023. Participants engage in a journey of cultural immersion and exploration in Malaysia.

Upon arrival in Kuala Lumpur, participants are introduced to their Malaysian counterparts, fostering connections, and creating a supportive environment for cultural exchange. Throughout the program, participants delve into Malaysia’s diverse culture. They learn about the country’s culture through sessions on “20 Things You Should Know About Malaysia” aside from the ice-breaking session.

Third day remarked the cultural diversity session that highlighted the “One Belt, One Road ” region. The session followed by culinary workshops on the flavors and cultural significance of Malaysian cuisine, with a focus on the beloved dish, Nasi Lemak. The following day, the cultural trip in Kuala Lumpur includes visits to iconic landmarks such as Batu Caves, the National Mosque, Sultan Abdul Samad Building, Masjid Jamek KL, Central Market, and the Kuala Lumpur Twin Towers.

This program emphasizes the development of intercultural communication skills through academic workshops and activities in separate sessions on day five. Participants enhance their ability to navigate cultural differences and engage in effective dialogue. A hands-on Batik painting workshop allows participants to express their creativity and learn about the symbolism behind this traditional Malaysian art form.

The program concludes with a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Melaka, where participants further explore Malaysia’s rich cultural heritage.

The UOW Malaysia Mobility Program creates lasting memories, fosters friendships, and deepens participants’ appreciation for Malaysian culture. It provides a platform for cultural exchange, personal growth, and a broader global perspective.
