UOW Malaysia PhD Candidate Ranked Among World’s Top 2% Scientists

UOW Malaysia proudly celebrates the remarkable achievement of Mr Dai Jiapeng, a Doctor of Philosophy (Business) candidate from the School of Business, who has been recognised among the Top 2% Scientists in the World for 2025 (Single-Year Data). This prestigious recognition is based on the global ranking compiled using data from Elsevier and Stanford University’s Top 2% Scientists list, which evaluates researchers worldwide using comprehensive bibliometric indicators, including citation impact, publication quality, and scholarly influence.

Mr Dai’s research falls within the field of Earth and Environmental Sciences (Environmental Sciences sub-field), where he has demonstrated exceptional scholarly excellence and research productivity during his doctoral candidature. According to the award certificate, he is listed in the Top 2% Scientists in the World – 2025 (Single-Year Data category), reflecting his significant academic contribution within a single year of research performance.

Mr Dai successfully passed his PhD viva voce on 5 November 2025, with Senate endorsement currently pending. Since commencing his PhD journey in September 2023, he has demonstrated extraordinary research output, publishing nine (9) first-author publications within a short candidature period. These include six (6) Q1 journal articles, two (2) Q2 journal articles, and one (1) Springer book chapter. This represents an exceptional scholarly record for any doctoral candidate and reflects both the quality and impact of his research in sustainability, environmental economics, and policy analysis.

Beyond his publication achievements, Mr Dai has also contributed actively to the academic community. He serves as an Associate Editor for the International Review of Economics & Finance (SSCI Q1) and is a member of the editorial board for Environmental Economics. His work has been widely cited, establishing a strong research profile with numerous high-impact publications addressing global sustainability, climate policy, green innovation, and environmental governance. This recognition as a Top 2% Scientist places him among an elite group of global researchers whose work significantly influences their respective fields.

Mr Dai was supervised by Dr Jasmine Phan Ah Kiaw, Head of Department, Postgraduate & Research Centre, and Associate Professor Dr Eddy Yap Tat Hiung from the School of Business. His research trajectory reflects the University’s commitment to advancing research excellence and nurturing high-impact doctoral scholars.
