The dual award Diploma in International Hotel Management is designed to prepare students for operations management and practical aspects of the hospitality industry. Our training adopts a Swiss influence in methods and curriculum, which is a combination of the traditional Swiss hotelier with modern management techniques.

For practical experience, students will intern for one semester industrial placement in renowned hotels or resorts in Malaysia and abroad. The program focuses on courses required for the industry by nurturing professionalism and characteristics that are essential for success in the industry. Graduates of this program receive not only a UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College degree, but also an award from IMI International Management Institute in Luzern, Switzerland.

Graduates of this dual award degree program receive a degree award from both UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College and IMI International Management Institute. A dual award degree program constitutes completion of a single program of study and is differentiated from a double –degree.

UOW Malaysia’s School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts (SHTCA) was established in 1991, as the pioneer in the northern region, as well as the first renowned hospitality, tourism and culinary arts school in Penang, providing quality education and knowledge to future hoteliers and chefs. Three of our graduates Ng Yee Thien, Khor Ying Jia and Tan Zhi Hong were awarded ‘Most Promising Young Chef of the Year’ in 2012, 2013 and 2014 respectively. Our students are prepared for the industry through a unique work-based training syllabus with the Malaysia Centre for Tourism and Hospitality Education  (MyCenTHE) diploma program, where a combination of work and study modes are incorporated into the curriculum. This method allows students to make an easier transition from college to the workplace.
