Dr Irhanida is a Senior Lecturer in UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College, School of Hospitality, Tourism and Culinary Arts since 2009. She has a background in Town and Country Planning and earned her undergraduate degree in this field.

Throughout her career, Dr. Irhanida has made contributions to the field of sustainable tourism through her scholarly publications, which encompass a wide array of topics ranging from ecotourism best practices to community-based tourism models. Her research outputs are marked by their interdisciplinary nature, drawing insights from environmental, social, economics, and policy studies to offer holistic perspectives on sustainable tourism development.

One of the hallmark achievements of Dr. Irhanida’s work is her instrumental role in advocating for the integration of sustainable tourism principles into the broader framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Recognizing the pivotal role of tourism in fostering inclusive growth, promoting cultural exchange, and conserving natural resources, Dr. Irhanida has actively championed the alignment of tourism strategies with the SDGs, particularly focusing on goals related to poverty alleviation, environmental conservation, and community empowerment at Bukit Tengah and worked together with YB Gooi Hsiao Leung.
