Associate Professor Dr. Khoo Hee Kooi Email: [email protected] Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khoo joined the family of the Department of Computing, with a doctorate degree in computational intelligence in year 2013. He has a solid foundation and practical knowledge in multi-disciplinary, especially in computing mathematics, algorithm design, artificial intelligence (AI), cyber security, computer graphics, machine vision, and the Internet of Things (IoT). During the years of services, he has successfully obtained ten professional training certifications, namely EC-Council’s certified ethical hacker instructor (CEI), several IBM certifications, et cetera. Currently, he is serving the role as a CEI in partnership with EC-Council Malaysia, starting from September 2021 semester to date and trained hundred over students. With the knowledge of multidisciplinary, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Khoo has conducted research and development (R&D) projects with an accumulated amount of MYR180,314.08. He is a principle investigator for two internal research grant projects on ‘Visual data processing in machine vision’ and ‘Development of open-source platform for smart home system’. Formerly, he served as a research officer (RO) in Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), with seven years’ of experiences in R&Ds. There are several government research projects completed, mainly funded by Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI)’s eScience fund and USM’s research university (RU) grants. These projects involved research work on visual data processing with unsupervised machine learning methods for machine vision. He has made contributions to practical knowledge in this domain, with substantial results being published internationally, principally within ACM, IEEE, SPIE, and InTech Open with over 50 citations, indexed in Web of Science (WOS), SCOPUS, and Google Scholar. His current research involves the developments of Internet of things (IoT) platform, majorly focus on human-machine intelligence (HMI) framework, established in Deja Vu laboratory, Batu Kawan campus. He was an active reviewer for the ISI Journal of IET Image Processing. Also, he has reviewed several research grants for both Penang and Glenmarie campuses. Currently, he supervises numerous local and international master and doctorate degrees’ postgraduates in research mode.
