Professor Dr. Martin O’Brien Email: [email protected] Dr. Martin O’Brien is a dedicated academic and researcher who has been a part of the University of Wollongong (UOW) since 2002. He completed his PhD in 2004 at the University of Newcastle, where his research focused on older worker labour force participation, examining the impacts of ageing populations and government welfare reform policies. Dr. Martin O’Brien has continued to contribute to this area of study, while also expanding his research to other applied labour topics. His work includes investigating issues such as youth unemployment and the post-redundancy outcomes for workers at BlueScope Port Kembla in the Illawarra region. In addition to his labour market research, Dr. Martin O’Brien explores the role of social media in tertiary education and the use of eLearning tools by students. His diverse research interests reflect his commitment to addressing both regional and broader societal challenges in the fields of employment, education, and technology.
