About STAR Marine Academy Star Marine Academy (STMA) is the first maritime academy in Malaysia in collaboration with a renowned University of Wollongong Malaysia located in Shah Alam where it is a one-stop center for training and providing expert solutions to the Marine Industry. About Marine Industry Malaysia’s shipping industry is well-rooted in history and is traced to the early days when it facilitated much of the regional and international trade. Since then, the industry has grown and contributed significantly to the development of the nation. The development is coupled with the Malaysia Shipping Master Plan (MSMP) that covers all the various ingredients that make for a successful shipping industry from the actual vessels that carry the trade, the employment and development of Malaysian seafarers and maritime human capital, ship financing, business and regulatory environment, and the provision of ancillary services. Together with Malaysia’s involvement in national, regional, and international maritime initiatives and organizations such as the International Maritime Organization, this MSMP is a major component in keeping Malaysia’s shipping industry at the forefront in contributing to the nation’s interests and promoting our engagement with the international community. The shipping industry must thus continue to operate in a way that is viable and efficient. STAR Marine Academy Courses Engine Room Resource Management (ERM) This course complies with the STCW 1978 including (2010 Manila Amendment) convention that includes Code A-III/1, III/2 and Code B –III/1, III/2 of the convention covering areas on Engine Room Resource Management. The course is aimed at officers of the engineering watch (operational level), 2nd Engineer and Chief Engineer (management level). It provides senior and junior engineers the training in human element leadership and management with reflective Knowledge, Understanding and Proficiency (KUP).
