EXPLORE MORE ABOUT THE SCHOLARSHIP The Australia Awards – Malaysia Semester Program is an initiative by the Australian Government’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The program provides financial assistance to eligible UOW Malaysia students who face financial barriers to studying overseas. Successful applicants will have the opportunity to study for one semester at UOW Australia’s Wollongong campus while remaining enrolled at UOW Malaysia. Academic credits earned in Australia can be transferred towards their existing program, subject to academic approval. SCHOLARSHIP BENEFITS The award is valued at up to AUD 17,000 per recipient and provides financial support towards approved expenses associated with the semester abroad, including: Return airfare between Malaysia and Australia Australian student visa application fees Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) Accommodation in Australia Living expenses and student allowance Other approved expenses associated with the program FEES Students will continue to pay their semester fees to UOW Malaysia based on the Malaysian fee structure while studying at University of Wollongong Australia. Eligibility Requirements Applicants must meet the following requirements: Be a Malaysian citizen or Permanent Resident. Be a current UOW Malaysia Bachelor’s degree student. Have completed at least one year of study. Have a minimum CGPA of 3.00. Demonstrate financial need. Meet the academic, English-language and other requirements for studying at UOW Australia. Be enrolled in an eligible field of study under the Australia Awards program. Demonstrate financial need, with priority given to applicants with a household monthly income below RM12,000. Selection Criteria Meeting the eligibility requirements does not guarantee a scholarship. Applicants will be assessed based on: Academic performance and financial need. Leadership and extracurricular involvement. Participation in community or volunteer activities. Motivation to study in Australia. Potential to contribute to UOW Malaysia upon returning. Shortlisted applicants will be invited for an interview. Interview Shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an interview. Selection results Successful applicants will be notified and provided with further instructions. SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS Applicants are required to prepare the following documents, subject to confirmation of the final checklist: Malaysian identity card or proof of Permanent Resident status. Valid passport. Latest academic transcript. Parents’ or guardians’ income documents (EA Form, salary slips or other acceptable proof of income). Evidence of leadership, extracurricular or community involvement, where applicable. Additional documents may be requested during the verification process. Terms and Conditions Scholarships are subject to eligibility verification and selection. Successful applicants must meet UOW Malaysia and UOW Australia’s academic and mobility requirements. Scholarship recipients must complete the required pre-departure preparations. Recipients are expected to participate in post-program sharing activities upon returning to Malaysia.
