On the 15th of December 2023, the Honourable Dato’ Seri Di Raja Dr. Zambry Abdul Kadir assumed the post of Higher Education Minister of Malaysia (MoHE). Subsequently, on the 5th of April 2024, a delegation from the University of Wollongong Malaysia (UOW Malaysia) paid a courtesy visit to his office.

Also at the meeting were Prof Dr. Azlinda Azman, the Director General (DG) of Higher Education, and Tuan Haji Akmal Zharif Ahmad Kamal, the Political Secretary to MoHE.

Representing UOW Malaysia were Datuk Seri Michael Yam, Chancellor of UOW Malaysia, Ms. Jennifer Ng, CEO of UOWMKDU/UOWGE Asia, Prof Hiew Pang Liang, Vice Chancellor of UOW Malaysia, and Mr. Shanker Sathivellu, Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration).

The Minister commended UOW Malaysia’s proactive engagement with the Ministry of Higher Education and reiterated the government’s dedication to supporting endeavours aimed at enhancing the quality and accessibility of higher education in Malaysia.

The meeting concluded with both parties reaffirming their commitment to fostering a dynamic and innovative educational environment conducive to nurturing talent, promoting research excellence, and contributing to Malaysia’s socio-economic advancement.
