We Prepare You to Be a Global Leader

The Bachelor of Arts (Hons) International Business Management Program at UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College, Batu Kawan delivers comprehensive business management courses with a distinct global perspective. This 3-year program is designed to cultivate business executives who are well-versed in responsible and ethical international business management and are prepared to operate confidently within complex international markets.

The global emphasis in the program reflects the reality that business today is conducted in an increasingly dynamic and interconnected global environment. Graduates from both Malaysia and across the world are expected to operate beyond traditional functional boundaries and navigate international borders effectively.

This internationally-focused business course in Malaysia allows students to explore core issues in international business while also developing an understanding of global cultures and languages. A unique highlight of the program is the inclusion of consultancy modules, which give students the rare opportunity to experience consulting from the perspective of both the client and the consultant.

Students work closely with external organisations on ‘real-life’ projects to gain hands-on experience and develop practical skills that are highly valued in the global workforce. During their third year, students are encouraged to spend time outside Malaysia—whether in a work placement, through a study abroad opportunity, or both. These international experiences are invaluable for anyone looking to study business in Malaysia and work abroad.

According to TalentCorp’s Pilot Critical Occupation List, graduates with an international business management degree are highly sought-after in today’s job market. Career prospects include roles as entrepreneurs, consultants, analysts, managers, developers, and buyers in both services and manufacturing sectors.

STUDENTS TODAY, ENTREPRENEURS TOMORROW

UOW Malaysia’s School of Business cultivates entrepreneurial thinking across all business management courses. All business students are required to complete an Entrepreneurship module led by the School of Business.

In the pursuit of nurturing budding entrepreneurs, the School of Business set up its own Enterprise Centre and partnered with Malaysia Practice Enterprise Centre (MyPEC) for its business simulator program. Under the Entrepreneurship module, students work in teams to run a business and solve its problems and issues in a virtual environment. The simulated set-up allows students to use various web-based applications including the SKOLA trading platform, human resources, administration and marketing platforms; providing students with the opportunity to experience different scenarios that occur in a real-world business environment. This teaches students the various methods of facing different situations, taking calculated risks and learning from failures.

Besides the simulated environment, students also go through the process of conceptualising, developing and fine-tuning business ideas, which will be pitched to angel investors. The module is taught by lecturers who have had vast industry experience and who are members of the Malaysian Business Angels Network (MBAN).

REAL WORLD EDUCATION WITH INDUSTRY

Students at UOW Malaysia’s School of Business are immersed in a practical learning environment through collaborations with industry partners that ensures their industry-readiness, giving them an edge even before they graduate—making it one of the most comprehensive business courses available in Malaysia.

INDUSTRY COOPERATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM
Industry partnership through adoption of specific module at UOW Malaysia provides our students an opportunity to network with their potentially future employers and apply classroom learning in real-world situations. In most cases, students will go through a series of training modules – from sessions on financial literacy to retail and customer service insights, people management, and other relevant operational areas. The holistic learning eco-system enables students to create and execute their own business plan, which forms part of the practical student assessment throughout their education journey.

UOW MALAYSIA JOB SHADOWING PROGRAM
At UOW Malaysia, we value the need for students to experience the real world instead of just classroom education. From as early as Year 1 of their Bachelor’s Degree or Year 2 of their Diploma studies, students can observe daily operations within a company and gain insights into career pathways. UOW Malaysia’s Job Shadowing program provides exposure that goes far beyond textbook learning.

REVOLUTIONARY BUSINESS SIMULATION

As the world of business transforms rapidly with the adoption of digital economy, the paradigm shift has resulted in greater demand for organisation with soft skills and entrepreneurial mindset. Students’ adaptability of this new era would enhance their innovativeness and productivity, hence contributing to societal development.

At UOW Malaysia’s School of Business, students are put into business simulated environments at our very own Entrepreneurialism Centre, guided by certified EuroPEN-PEN International trainers and are led by experienced Malaysia Business Angel Network (MBAN) investors. The simulated set-up allows students to use various web-based applications including the Simplified Business System (SBS) trading platform, human resources, administration and marketing platforms that teaches them various methods in facing the VUCA (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity and Ambiguity) world, taking calculated risks and learning from failures.
