Build Smart and Sustainable Solutions

The interdisciplinary nature of mechatronics engineering, which encompasses mechanical, electronics, computer, control and systems design engineering, is envisaged to become increasingly important in the future—both domestically and globally. Mechatronics engineering has been recognised as a continuously evolving field in the creation of intelligent machines and advanced manufacturing and processing systems.

At UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College, Batu Kawan, the Bachelor of Mechatronics Engineering with Honours degree program is designed to expose students to the principles and practice of mechatronics by gaining knowledge of engineering processes, mechanical principles, as well as the use of digital electronics, 3D printing technology and computer-aided (CAD) software.

It has a strong focus on design and hands-on, project-based learning activities that use equipment associated with robotics, industrial control and advanced manufacturing. This provides a holistic preparation for students to enter future challenges in both existing and emerging sectors, including roles in electrical and electronics engineering and mechanical engineering career pathways.

Mechatronics Engineering Career Opportunities

Graduates can pursue roles in both traditional and emerging sectors, such as:

  • Robotics Engineering
  • Automation Engineering
  • Instrumentation Engineering
  • Electronic Engineering
  • Maintenance Engineering
  • Mechatronics Project Engineering
  • Mechatronics, R&D or Systems Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Process Control Engineering
  • Service Engineering

Additionally, the degree opens up broader career opportunities in mechanical engineering and electrical engineering jobs, as industries increasingly seek cross-disciplinary skillsets.

This program is fully accredited by the Board of Engineers Malaysia (BEM). Our graduates are also recognised internationally through the Washington Accord of the International Engineering Alliance.

Program information

Engineering may not be the easiest area of study, but it remains one of the most in-demand fields. Graduates with an engineering degree are more likely to find employment quickly and advance their careers. As Malaysia strives towards a developed nation status, electrical and electronics engineering professionals and other engineers play a vital role in enhancing quality of life through science and technology.

Qualified engineers, especially in high-growth areas like mechatronic engineering in Malaysia are in escalating demand globally. Undertaking an engineering course in Malaysia, students can build a foundation for international careers, including those seeking attractive electrical engineer salary in Malaysia and beyond.

Studying engineering offers prestige, global mobility, job satisfaction and the opportunity to make meaningful contributions to society. It also opens the door to technopreneurship—engineers as entrepreneurs.
