Foundation studies, also known as foundation courses, are designed to prepare students for university-level education. You will be able to choose a stream that you are passionate about. Our Foundation Studies program covers several fields. This allows students to get started on subject areas that interest them and decide whether or not they later want to pursue tertiary education in that field. You will have the opportunity to adjust to a tertiary education environment. Foundation studies is a pre-university program offered by institutions of higher learning designed to prepare students for the subjects and courses they will be undertaking during their degree. 2. What are foundation studies equivalent to? Foundation courses in Malaysia are usually equivalent to A-Levels, STPM, Matriculation, AUSMAT, and International Baccalaureate. However, in terms of focus, courses such as a foundation in arts allow students the opportunity to explore subjects that they are interested in even before they enrol in a degree program. 3. Is Foundation better than A levels? Both foundation courses and A levels have their pros and cons. As such, it depends on the student. For example, more academically inclined students may do better in A levels as it is exam-based.
