Dr Mario Fernando is a Professor of Management at the Faculty of Business and Law, and the Centre for Cross-Cultural Management Director at the University of Wollongong. He was a Visiting Fellow at Cornell University from June-December 2023. He is an Attorney-at-law of the Sri Lanka Supreme Court. Mario is researching responsible leadership, identity work, AI in particular, leadership, business ethics, and human resource management topics in general.

Mario mentors start-up entrepreneurs and was an advisory committee member at the Nan Tien Institute in Australia. Mario’s learning and teaching contributions over a sustained period have been recognised at national and institutional levels. He is an Australian Learning and Teaching Council citation winner (Australian Office for Learning and Teaching, OLT). He is also an Australian and New Zealand Academy of Management’s (ANZAM) Educator of the Year winner and a recipient of the Vice Chancellor’s Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning faculty award.
