As you finish high school, conversations with your parents on your next steps are likely on the cards. These chats can often turn nostalgic as they reminisce about their university days. If any of them are KDU University alumni, we’re sure they’d be surprised to hear that their alma mater has rebranded to UOW Malaysia, if they didn’t know already.

This transition took place in 2019, bringing together the best KDU and UOW have to offer. Read our story to learn more but let’s see what has changed since the transition.

Advancing Our Campuses

Those familiar with KDU or now, UOW Malaysia, likely know the Glenmarie campus for the quality of education it provides, attracting students across the country and even abroad. In January 2020, we opened our UOW Malaysia KDU Penang University College, Batu Kawan Campus, and brought the quality education we’re known for and made it more accessible to students living in the northern regions of Malaysia.

Meanwhile, back in Selangor, the Glenmarie campus reached a new milestone in its growth with its achievement of university status in 2023. It’s now officially known as the University of Wollongong Malaysia, and sits amongst the top highly regarded universities in the country with our high standards of quality education and internationally recognised, home-grown degrees. And it’s no surprise our graduates rank amongst the topmost sought-after graduates.

Creating Career-Ready Graduates

As educators and ex-students ourselves, we know from experience that learnings go beyond the classroom. On top of getting the education you need, your university experience will include building essential soft skills like social interaction and networking in a fun and safe environment. Thus, we’ve established various clubs and societies, programs, and activities – many of which are run by the students themselves – to help them develop these skills and better prepare them to begin their careers.

We’ve come a long way from our humble KDU days, going from strength to strength and evolving with the times to become a university that constantly delivers on our promise of providing world-class education and an unforgettable experience for every student who walks through our doors.
