What is Post Basic in Oncology Nursing?

This Oncology Nursing course prepares graduates for the challenge of practice in the field of Oncology, in a variety of settings including acute care hospitals; ambulatory care clinics, radiation therapy facilities and hospice.

The program is also structured to equip graduates with the knowledge and competencies to respond effectively to the needs and demands of the ill and terminal patients. The specialized nurse functions is to provide services such as long-term nursing care to patients with cancer, prescreening prior to chemotherapy administration, management of fatigue, general symptom management and care of bone marrow transplantation patients.

COLLEGE HISTORY

  • 1995 – Established as a pioneer nursing college and in operation as SJMC Nursing College.
  • 2007 – registered with the Ministry of Higher Education as a private higher education provider under the name of Ramsay Sime Darby Healthcare College.
  • 2009 – began operations and grew to 1100 students, offering 18 programs.
  • 2020 – acquired by UOW Malaysia and became part of the UOW global network of campuses.
  • 2022 – relocated to the UOW Malaysia Glenmarie campus and renamed as UOW Malaysia College, offering quality health care education.
